According to the China tax administration department, the Ministry of Commerce and trade recently issued Circular No. 5 / 2022, which once again included 1131 categories of commodities in the regulatory list, including imported yeast, comprehensive food, animal food, soap raw materials and chemical products. Since May 1, the commodities on the Import Supervision list need to apply for the import license in advance and pay the corresponding taxes according to the international HS code tariff number.
The news shows that this is the third time that the Ministry of Commerce and trade has announced the list of commodities that need to apply for licenses for import. Previously, in addition to comprehensive food, daily necessities and chemicals, the 1131 commodities listed in the Import Supervision list also included imported products such as textile fabrics, dyes, motors and generators.
According to the 2017 customs tariff of Myanmar, importers must comply with HS Code 10 digital applies for import licenses for 536 or 1131 commodities. Since 2021, electrical appliances, food, cosmetics, daily necessities, paper products and building materials related products have been listed in the Import Supervision list, and importers need to apply for import licenses in advance.
It is reported that in order to successfully restart the post epidemic economy and ensure the orderly development of national import and export trade, the Ministry of Commerce and trade of Myanmar has repeatedly issued a new list of import supervised products. Whether it is transported by sea, air or land, the commodities in the import supervised list need to apply for licenses in advance.
In addition, import enterprises and businessmen ignored the import and export regulations and applied for import licenses only after the goods arrived at the wharf, which was reminded by the Ministry of Commerce and trade. From April 4, the trade management department will no longer apply for licenses for commodities that have arrived at domestic terminals. In order to avoid unnecessary losses, enterprises and businessmen must apply for import licenses in advance before loading goods. If enterprises or businessmen are found to be in violation of regulations again, they will be prosecuted according to law.
