According to the CCTV news client on May 20, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee held a series of thematic press conferences on "China's decade" on May 20. Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, introduced at the meeting that in recent years, with the progress of Internet technology and the development of digital economy, major changes have taken place in international trade, and cross-border e-commerce has developed rapidly from scratch.
China's cross-border e-commerce continues to grow rapidly. Since 2015, the State Council has approved the establishment of 132 cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones in six batches, covering 30 provinces, regions and cities in China. In 2018, China innovatively introduced the regulatory policy of cross-border e-commerce retail import, and gradually expanded the pilot scope to 31 provinces, autonomous regions and cities across the country. The Ministry of Commerce, together with various departments and localities, replicated and promoted nearly 70 mature experiences and innovative practices throughout the country. The Ministry of commerce also actively participated in international cooperation, put forward China's plans on multilateral occasions such as WTO, G20, APEC and the international customs organization, and signed e-commerce cooperation memoranda with 23 countries.
At present, many countries and regions have their own local cross-border e-commerce platforms. Relying on manufacturing and market advantages, Chinese local enterprises have developed rapidly, accumulated a lot of practical experience, and emerged a number of world leading cross-border e-commerce platforms. According to customs statistics, China's cross-border e-commerce import and export has increased nearly 10 times in five years, reaching 1.92 trillion last year, an increase of 18.6%. Cross border e-commerce has significantly reduced the threshold of international trade specialization, making a large number of small and micro entities that can't, can't afford and can't become new trade operators. At present, more than 30000 enterprises have filed on the online comprehensive service platform of the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive test zone. At the same time, cross-border e-commerce enterprises have better met the personalized and customized needs of overseas consumers by building a flexible supply chain with concentrated factors and rapid response.
China's cross-border e-commerce not only sells but also buys the world. While enriching the supply of the domestic market and better meeting the people's needs for a better life, it also injects new momentum into Global trade and investment. In recent years, many ambassadors to China have brought goods live and actively promoted their own products, such as powder and salt in Pakistan and rose water in Bulgaria, which have become popular among consumers. Many high-quality brands have taken root and ushered in new development opportunities after entering the Chinese market with the help of e-commerce.
