Statistics released by China Haikou Customs on the 20th showed that with a large number of foreign trade entities stationed in Hainan free trade port, Hainan's foreign trade growth rate in the first four months of this year ranked first in the country, and its import and export to countries along the "the Belt and Road" doubled.
Tian Tao, deputy director of Haikou customs and spokesman, said that in the first four months of this year, the total import and export value of Hainan's goods trade was 59.84 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), an increase of 68.8% year-on-year (the same below), and the growth rate was 60.9 percentage points faster than that of the whole country.
In the first four months of this year, the EU and ASEAN were Hainan's top two trading partners. Hainan's import and export to ASEAN increased by 42.1%, to other member countries of the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP) by 43.4%, and to countries along the "the Belt and Road" by 113.5%.
According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, the proportion of Hainan's imports and exports to countries along the "the Belt and Road" increased by 3.6 percentage points compared with 2021. In terms of categories, the import of energy and resources products in Hainan increased rapidly, and the export of mechanical and electrical products increased rapidly.
"A large number of foreign trade entities have settled in one after another, which has become the main driving force driving the growth of Hainan's foreign trade." Ju Chunmei, director of statistics and Analysis Department of Haikou customs and spokesman, analyzed that the attraction of Hainan free trade port to import and export enterprises is increasing. Nearly 6000 foreign trade enterprises were newly registered in the first four months of this year, an increase of 144%. In addition, the tax-free industry continued to develop rapidly and effectively promoted the expansion of imports. Consumer goods have become the most important imported goods in Hainan, and their proportion in the total import value of Hainan Province has increased from 20% in 2017 to nearly 50% at present.
Haikou customs, in combination with the construction requirements of Hainan free trade port and the development needs of leading industries, issued 30 measures to promote the stability and quality of foreign trade on the same day, including making every effort to ensure the smooth circulation of the industrial chain and supply chain in key regions, supporting the construction of a new land and sea channel shipping hub in the west of Yangpu, supporting the development of areas under special customs supervision, supporting the development of duty-free industries on outlying islands, and promoting the pilot expansion of the pilot policy of Yangpu Bonded Port.
